I am an artist, educator, and a mother of a wonderful five year old daughter. I am originally from the New England area, but have called Colorado my home for over a decade. I love the outdoors and all that Colorado has to offer. Hiking and camping in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter. Mostly, I love to spend time with my daughter and creating art (usually sketching or throwing pottery)!
As an art educator, I hope to inspire students to develop an appreciation and love of the visual arts. I have a strong background in the arts and a Masters in Art Therapy. I believe my 10 years of experience as a counselor strengthens my role as a teacher and helps me connect to students. I have a strong understanding of students with special needs and methods for accommodating and differentiating learning. I love working in the school environment and collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and the community.
As a teacher, I utilize backward design to create fun, innovative, choice-based curriculum with a focus on critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning. I believe in progressive teaching and creating a safe, respectful community for students to be creative and develop a love of learning.
